In business, performance is key. In performance, how you organize can be the key to growth. In the past five years, the business world has seen the birth of a new breed of company—the Exponential Organization—that has revolutionized how a company can accelerate its growth by using technology. An ExO can eliminate the incremental, linear way traditional companies get bigger, leveraging assets like community, big data, algorithms, and new technology into achieving performance benchmarks 10 times better than its peers. Three luminaries of the business world—Salim Ismail, Yuri van Geest, and Mike Malone—have researched this phenomenon and documented 10 characteristics of Exponential Organizations. Here, in Exponential Organizations , they walk the listener through how any company, from a startup to a multinational, can become an ExO, streamline its performance, and grow to the next level.

The bestselling author Deepak Chopra is back with a new work that explores the seven ways we experience God.  As Chopra explains, these experiences are shaped not by any one religion but by an instinct that is hard-wired into the brain.  In this remarkable work, Chopra takes us step by step, from the first stage, where the brain's "fight or flight" response yields us the experience of a God who is an all-powerful parent, to the seventh stage, where the brain experiences God as pure being, a sacred presence that just is.  All seven stages are available to us at all times. In  How to Know God , Chopra charts a fascinating course for us, as we explore mysticism, religious ecstasy, genius, telepathy, multiple personality, and clairvoyance, drawing insights from psychology, neurology and physics as well as from the great religions.

While the art of War is a well-known work, its creator sun Tzu remains a mystery. What is known about sun Tzu is that he was a Chinese military strategist, General and philosopher who lived in the Spring and autumn period of ancient China (approximately 771 to 476 BC). ancient Chinese records differ about his place of birth – The Spring and autumn annals (state records of the Zhou dynasty) state that he was a native of qi; shiji (records of the Grand historian) state that he was a native of qu. Both, however, agree that he was a military General of King ho-lu of Wu. The name sun Tzu is also not his birth name but a title meaning “master sun”; his birth name was likely sun Wu.

Written in 1912, The Metamorphosis was first published in 1915. “When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin.” With these startlingly bizzare opening lines, Kafka begins his masterpiece–one of the most influential works of twentieth century fiction. The novella tells the story of traveling salesman Gregor Samsa, who wakes up one morning only to find himself transformed into an insect. It subsequently details Samsa’s struggles to adapt to his new condition, as well as his family’s reaction to his “metamorphosis”.

Digital technology is simultaneously friend and foe: highly disruptive, yet it cannot be ignored. Companies that fail to make use of it put themselves in the line of fire for disintermediation or even eradication. But digital technology is also the biggest opportunity to reposition incumbent product-making businesses by thinking about how they conceive, make, distribute and support the next generation of goods in the marketplace. Reinventing the Product looks at the ways traditional products are transforming into smart connected products and ecosystem platforms at a rate much faster than most organizations think. Eric Schaeffer and David Sovie show how this reinvention is made possible: by AI and digital technologies, such as IoT sensors, blockchain, advanced analytics, cloud and edge computing. They show how to deliver truly intelligent, and potentially even autonomous, products with the more personalized and compelling experiences that today's users, consumers and enterprises expect. Reinventing the Product makes a stringent case for companies to rethink their product strategy, their innovation and engineering processes, and the entire culture to build the future generations of successful 'living products'. Featuring case studies from global organizations such as Faurecia, Signify, Symmons and Haier and interviews with thought leaders and business executives from top companies including Amazon, ABB, Tesla, Samsung and Google, this book provides practical advice for product-making companies as they embark on, or accelerate, their digitization journey.

This guide presents what the Internet has to offer in personal finance and investing. It highlights online sites, supplying addresses together with a brief summary of the site and how to access it, alongside notable downloads and forums. The text gives a review of sites on major online services such as America Online, Compuserve, and the Microsoft Network, the World Wide Web and the rest of the Internet. A rating system is also given for evaluating each site. While the Net grows as a resource for money matters, its ceaseless proliferation of electronic information often proves confusing to the experienced and newbie alike. Douglas Goldstein and Joyce Flory's The Online Guide to Personal Finance and Investing attempts to sort it all out, clearly explaining options from mailing lists and gopher menus to online services and bulletin boards. Its heart is the analysis of some 165 Web sites, regularly updated on one maintained by the authors.

This book examines the monetary and financial structures of pre–industrial capitalism from the thirteenth to the eighteenth centuries. The coverage ranges widely across the whole of Europe with particular attention to the role of the money supply in long term economic movements. The author also discusses the question of business cycles and financial crises as dealt with by historians of the French Annales school, notably by Marc Bloch and Fernand Braudel. Themes addressed include the diverse economies operating in Europe during this time contrasting, for example, the advanced exchange economy of Renaissance Venice with the economic dependency of Sardinia. The perennial ′problem of the standard′, a key to our understanding of monetary mechanisms in any age, is treated on a country by country basis covering the entire five centuries of merchant capitalism. John Day is research professor emeritus at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Paris. He previously lectured at the universities of Paris VII and Tel–Aviv and has taught in the US and Italy. His published works include The Medieval Market Economy (1987).
